"Let the LIFE visits Landlocked-Laos"
Laos traces its history to the Kingdom of Lan Xang or Land of a Million Elephants, which existed from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century. Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia and the thickly forested landscape consists mostly of rugged mountains. The Mekong River forms a large part of the western boundary with Thailand whereas the mountains of the Annamite Chain form most of the eastern border with Vietnam. Laos is a wonderful country. The culture and natural beauty of a land is home to the ever smiling Laotian people.
The climate is tropical and monsoonal. There is a distinct rainy season from May to November, followed by a dry season from December to April.
Theravada Buddhism is a dominant influence in Lao culture. It is reflected throughout the country from language to the temple and in art, literature, performing arts etc.
The country has two World Heritage Sites: Luang Prabang and Vat Phou. The government is seeking the same status for the Plain of Jars.
To enjoy the trekking probably the best in Asia one is to go to Luang Namtha or Muang Sing. The Laos government has insisted on a very eco friendly approach to tourism at a stage where it will really make a difference. One can visit and stay with a variety of hill tribe people to experience the real life. Trek the virgin trails & learn the ways of the rainforest and the tribes that live within it. Then there is the wonderful Luang Prabang, with its legacy of ancient red-roofed temples, French colonial architecture and refined cuisine. It is unquestionably one of Southeast Asia's most enchanting cities and is an essential stop on any visit. From here one can reach the likes of the Pak Ou caves and the Kuang Si Falls.
Enjoy visiting in the south Si Phan Don, the Four Thousand Islands, a landlocked archipelago and home to some of Laos' most traditional villages as well as rare freshwater dolphins and the thundering waterfalls.
